The South Carolina Aquarium, located at 100 Aquarium Warf in Charleston, is a fun filled day for the entire family. Dating back to 1841, the Old City Market is still true to its name. It is located right on Market Street, between East Bay and Meeting Streets and is open seven days a week, in the midst of historic Charleston apartments and homes. This is a true open air market that is reminiscent of the old world. There are even little ladies weaving sweet grass baskets at several stands.

Known as, “the edge of America,” Folly Beach is perhaps one of the most unusual of all east coast beaches because it has managed to stay relatively unencumbered by high rise towers, beach front hotels and other usual real estate impositions. One can fish on the pier, swim in the ocean, enjoy water sports and lounge on the white sands without a lot of commercial hubbub around.

For some of the most chic boutiques and fashion shops in town, a trip to the King Street Shopping District is a must. The district is divided into three sections: The Dining District & Upper King Street Design, the Middle King Street Fashion District and the Lower King Street Antique District.

There’s also a huge nightlife scene and something for everyone all day long. Every type of shop exists in the Fashion District, including children’s clothing, men’s & women’s fashions, chocolates, gift shops, shoe stores and the list goes on.

One can quickly forget they are in a large bustling city while wandering around these paths. The Gateway Walk boasts hundreds of acres of foliage and vegetation fully grown and vibrantly healthy. The pathways also lead to many of the historic churches as they pass by old cemeteries and secret gardens. The Gateway Walk is an enchanting break and a relaxing way to spend an afternoon.
